sales representative within the UK healthcare sector. Pay as a Healthcare Rep

There are many jobs within the Healthcare Industry and one
of the first that people think of is the Medical Sales Representative. But
there are other types of Healthcare jobs too. For example Healthcare Nurse

the starting role in the industry is that of the Healthcare Sales
Representative.
In the UK, there are distinct differences between the
role of a Healthcare Sales Representative versus and that of a Pharmaceutical
Sales Representative. Typically, in Pharmaceutical Sales, the activities of the
Sales Representative will be focused on the promotion of a medicines to GP's,
Hospital Doctors and certain other Medically qualified personnel. Whereas the
role of a Healthcare Sales Representative will encompass the promotion of
medical and healthcare products, such as bandages, dressings, wound care,
medical mattresses, pressure care solutions, prosthetic devices, medical
trolleys, specialist healthcare beds, theatre equipment (robes, gloves etc),
along with capital equipment, nutritional supplements and various other types
of medical / healthcare disposables. The term 'Medical Sales' is sometimes used
in a collective sense to cover the combined areas of Pharmaceutical and
Healthcare Sales.
Whilst starting salaries in Healthcare Sales are
similar to those of Pharmaceutical Sales Rep's, there can be the potential for
greater bonus payments. Along with a good basic salary and sales bonus
payments, Healthcare Sales Representatives usually benefit from excellent
company car schemes, private healthcare, expenses and highly rewarding ongoing
personal development. Whilst a degree isn’t absolutely essential to
getting started as a trainee healthcare sales representative, the top companies
often prefer to take on graduates, those with a nursing or paramedical
background or individuals with success in marketing or an ethical sales role. A
common first role in the healthcare sales sector is that of a field based sales
rep and most accomplished Healthcare Sales Representatives will have the
opportunity to advance their careers via Marketing, Product Management,
Healthcare Sales Management or some other healthcare career route.
